Michael Vermeij – Hand Crafted Design – South West France
I’m not the world’s biggest fan of Facebook, but Julie my wife saw an ad on said social media platform, in regard to someone looking for a commercial videographer based in South West France.
We had only just moved to France full-time a few months prior and mid renovating an old house, I wasn’t quite ready for taking on new projects at that stage, but it sounded interesting and that’s key for me.
So I contacted Michael and we had a chat and agreed I would take on this project.
Michael Vermeij, originally from the Netherlands, lives near Auch and specialises in high quality hand-crafted kitchenware. Wood is his business.
Whether it’s new wood or his preference for ‘upcycling’ reclaimed timber, he has a fascinating covered, but outdoor workshop.
We shot the project above on a sunny & bright, but cold Winters day in January.
It’s quite simple really. The subject simply gets on with a typical days work and I capture that as the raw material for the production. As the day goes on, more and more is realised by me about the process…the story and that’s what I am looking for.
Towards the end of the day, we simply record a narrative for the audio overlay. This however is optional, – a project could simply be video and music.
More of Michael’s story can be found here on his own website.
